CSI Case File #3

Here is my layout for CSI's Case File #3.

It is so muggy here at the moment, so what better was to pass the time than scrap! The photo is my Great Grandmother (my Pop's Mother) although I never met her I have her tea cups. They where something I have always loved when visiting my Nan and Pop's house, one day while visiting I was given them, they are now among my most treasured items.

The Case File looked like this:

2 Double Page Layouts from my Big Picture Double Take Class

Ok so technically I started this first one last year, but I finished it now and that's what counts!

These layouts where completed as part of a class I took at Big Picture Classes, called Double Take and taught by May Flaum and Nic Howard. I never do double layouts, so I took this class as a chance to get my Fiji holiday photos scrapped, all went well for the first two weeks, then I bummed! I still have 1 week to finish. And I hope to soon!

The Color Room #94

Here is my layout for The Color Room's newest Palette #94.

As soon as I saw the colours I new just wanted to scrap. This photo is of me and Cari Fennell from Prima's Design Team who travelled from the US to teach classes for the Prima Road Show all over Australia and New Zealand. We used the Alla Prima Collection in class and I had loads of scraps left over to create more with, so this seamed perfect.

CSI Color Stories Inspiration Case File #2

This layout was created for CSI's Case File #2.

I don't normally go and take photos to create layouts, but this colour palette and the inspiration photo, just made me want a specific photo, so I packed my daughter and hubby up, as James loves photography, and off we went to Toorongo Falls, just near home. I wanted a real lush green background to my photo, and this moss covered boulder was perfect!

I did also pack Immy's mermaid dress up, and was going to get a photo of her with the tail in the water while she sat on the rock, but the leeches had ideas of eating her alive, so that plan was scraped!

Above is the Case File we had to work with, I have chosen to use ALL the Evidence items!! The flowers are obvious, the architectural element (window), sheer element (the acrylic ribbon through the center of the lace), swirls/flourish again obvious and the stone like object is my little purple tile near the heart on the left side that says 'dream'.

I have used two of the Testimony items, the inspiration word - Dream as described above and I have used Advice in my title as I believe everyone should listen to nature more!

Kraft It Up January Colour Challenge

Challenge Heaven Dec/Jan Theme Challenge - Togetherness.

This page was created for Challenge Heaven's December/January Theme Challenge - Togetherness. The layout had to include heat embossed stamping and a handmade embellishment. I have heat embossed my white background cardstock and only kept a small subtle amount showing, I have hand made two fabric rolled flowers, 1 with pink fabric and 1 with muslin sprayed with Glimmer Mist. CSI - Color Stories Inspiration Case File #1

I have finished a layout today for a new Challenge Site that has started up, CSI Color Stories Inspiration, it is an awesome challenge and was heaps of fun!

This was Case file #1, there is still a few days to have a go at this one.

From this Case File, you had to use all 5 colours (which they have named awesome names from the Alice in Wonderland Movie LtoR- Riddled with lime, Green Tea, Futterwacken Yellow-Gold, Madder Red and Muchier Greenish Grey) you can add neutrals and 1 colour to accent (10% only), use two or more Evidence items (I used pins, numbers, distreesing and lacy element)and one or more Testimony items (I used the document something mad).

Tim's Holiday Rosette Tree

Tim's blog had a lovely little surprise project posted today, a holiday mini tree made using both of the rosette dies. It was too cute to pass up having at go at making.

I'm glad I did because it was quick and simple, and I can see myself making loads more (maybe not this year though!)

I used the Twinklets Diamond Dust on the top, but I am still not happy using it, I get scared the kids (or cats) will get hurt if they pick it up.

Wow I am actually finishing Tim Holtz' 12 Tags of Christmas in December! I think that is a first for me!!

I have a small confession to make I really don't like Tim's Fractured Dolls, now those of you who know me know I love Tim and everything he makes, until them.

When tag 12 popped up on his blog, I thought oh no what am I going to do! I thought for a few days about using an old vintage angel decoration that was my Nan's, but I could not bring myself to cut it and glue it to a tag. So I went to the local opportunity shop and looked for Christmas decorations, they had a bag full of Vintage decorations for 50c!!

So poor Santa here got the chop!!

I didn't have the artful dwellings die, so I have just rough cut a shape to fit.

So we are up to Tag #11, the second last one for 2011, I have learnt so much already through these tags, this is my third year of playing along, although I keep looking at the first two years and thinking I should do them, maybe one day!

This tag focused on glossy cardstock, I didn't have ranger glossy cardstock, and I used what I had, except that when I came to add the water dropplets to the background, no matter how much water I added it did not remove any colour, so this must b different?

I also do not have a melting pot or utee, but they are on top of my wish list now, my holly and branches never fully flattered out and I broke he branch trying to flatten it while heating again.

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas Day 10

Ok this is Tag 10, I can't believe how beautiful this tag is!
I also was a fairly simple tag to complete, I have seen the sticky tape transfer done on many blogs, but I have never stopped to try it, until now! I am very happy with the results even though I never had the facets, only fragments without holes (which cropadiles won't punch without shattering, I didn't think it would but it was worth the try, although I think I will be finding pieces of it for a while LOL!!) I had to substitute the Brushed Corduroy ink for my Bundled Twigs as it is the one colour of Distress Ink I don't have (I think it has been lost somewhere) but I like the darker effect and my gold paint did not want to stick to the Alpha part letters, but I am still happy with the result.

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas are almost finished! Tonight's upload will be the final one for 2011!! It seems like it has gone heaps faster this year, and I am surprisingly keeping up, I usually get too busy by this stage!

I have done three tags today, as I was too busy over the weekend to get them done.

Tag 9 was a new technique involving a background stamp and two colours of distress ink being embossed, you can read how on Tim's blog. I love this technique and I can see myself doing it more.

I am in love with the festive greenery die and Tim has used it on three tags, so it's time for me to get it I think!

This is my interpretation of Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas #8.

I must admit when I first saw Tim's tag last night I loved it, but it left me thinking what the heck am I going to make from that, I don't have the stamps, the clock die, the label stickers, the light bulbs, pen nibs!! I did think of the Graphic 45 papers in my stash, but the image I originally thought to use was way too big for the tag, but overall I am happy with my finish tag. I did have in my stash some clock parts which I have used.

And best of all I am caught up with Tim's tags, well until 7pm tonight anyway when day 9 goes live here.

I think this one was my favorite so far. I have changed a few things as I did not have the things Tim used, the only thing I wish was different are the little red bells/berries I wish they where bigger.

I caught up a little bit today, getting two tags done today, plus some of my Daily December Album!

Tim's tag for day 6, was heaps of fun, but again I found myself doing loads of substituting!!

I did not have the metal tape, so I used some silver foil cardstock, which worked fine. I used this embossing folder because I love it, but I sort of don't now!! LOL!! It was so much work to colour all the little patch works! Tim was right when he said some paint won't stick to metal, some even would not stick to this foil paper! And I don't have a burnishing block, so my sanding block was used very lightly.

I used a Fab-Scraps charm and added kaiser pearls.

Can't wait to work on the remaining tags!

But I am happy with how the tag finished.

I only had two different alcohol inks cranberry and current, and I had to use all my Christmas Sentiment stamps to create the background, plus I hand drew and cut the wreath.

Well here is my adaptation of Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas Day 4. I really don't like doing over the top snowy tags. So I cut a Gingerbread man from grunge paper with my cricut, then took it from there.

Tim's Tag Day 3

Day 3 of Tim's '12 Tag of Christmas' was another stunning tag, but one that was quick and easy!

I did not have the stamps and embossing folder Tim used, so it made it harder to complete this tag, and even though I have re-inkers and cut and dry foam I chose to use a whole bunch of different stamps from all different companies to complete the tag, stamped one by one.

Except when i sprayed it with my Glimmer mist, the distress inks bled, I heat gun dried it as quickly as I could. But in a way I like the bleeding, it make it look more vintage.

Maybe the ranger mists are different to not bleed, or I sprayed too much?

Day 2 of Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas, was heaps of fun, again I never had half the products Tim used so I have improvised. I have used a vintage sheet music downloaded from the internet, a holly stamp, then distress inks to create the back ground, then I stamped some Christmas sentiments and clear embossed to create the resist.

I also learnt from this tag that border punches do not like grunge board!

My Halloween Graphic 45 Mini Book

I am so glad I finaly finished this project. I have had so much fun working on it and it is different to any mini album I have ever made before.

It is a gate fold album, with different sized pages and pages opening in different directions.

I have used a CC designs digi stamp called Spring Couple. I have coloured it with my Copic markers, ut unfortunately the area near his eye smugged as I never left it enough time to dry. I have cut hearts from my Cricut with Prima Melody 6'' paper pad. Printed the sentiment from the computer and added some ribbons, Prima flower center and flowers to finish the card. I have also used the wire steam from the flowers to create little 'leaf' like springs. I am happy overall with the card - just pissed off at my impatience!!

This layout has been made using he August boy challenge kit at Fat Cat Scrappin' I had lots of fun creating this page, I still want to get Ethan to colour his R2D2 picture and i'll add a little journalling to the red block under his drawing. I love these kits there is so much in them for only $10!!

To make my flowers more elegant - rather than the plain mulberry flowers I had left over! I have stamped various stamps onto the flowers, before adding several layers of Dimensional Magic to add loads of shine! I have taken my die cut Sizzix shapes to the next level by running them through my Big Shot then rubbing very lightly with gold ink before adding Dimensional magic.

I have not used any Purple Pumpkin Lovely Embellies, because I don't have ANY!! I have always been working and not able to get to the sales, and by the time I get to look it's all sold out!!

BUT this is something I plan to change this Friday night at 7.30 pm on their blog.

Judging by the sneaks Sam has been putting up on her Facebook page you don't want to miss this sale. I am hanging out for the XL Asian Girl brads, so so cute and perfect to finish the pages of Immy's kinder Asian dress up day!

Ok I am not 100% happy with this one, I think its too flat, or my horrid hand writing or it could be that I had to use an Iron, Ohh the horror!!

I enjoyed this one! Hard to imagine thats me, younger than Imogen cutting and pasting at Nan and Pops!!

An Altered Canvas Enviro Bag

I love the idea of enviro bags, but I always forget them. I found a plain canvas bag in Target on the weekend, it had a printed tree and read making a difference.

The colours don't really come up well in the photo, it is green, yellow, teal, pink and orange. Not anywhere near as yellow as it show up!!

I have used glimmermist, tree masks, acrylic paint, canvas, glimmer glam, charms, buttons, grungeboard and Bo Bunny Trim.

Hopefully now I won't forget my bag!!

My Poor Neglected Blog!!

Wow it's been way too long in between posts! I have been so busy with the shop and family (damn school holidays!!) that I really have not done much creative stuff.

But I have just booked to do some classes with Donna Downey in Sydney next month!!!!

So I decided I should get the mojo flowing and try a few of her Art Journal pages. The top double page is from Donna's Inspiration Wednesday videos. It was the first page I did and I LOVE it! The words read ''As I begin my creative journey embrace mistake not as error but growth'' I pulled it out of my butt, but I like it. It suits what this journal means to me, learning to not care for perfection, I can't paint master pieces, but I can enjoy the process!

This was my second page. I need to get some india ink and a nib pen, writing with a paint brush is not my thing!!

Fat Cat's January Challenge

Here is my challenge entry for the Fat Cat Scrappin' Monthly Kit. We haven't done one for a while and have had lots of people ask for it, so it's back!!

I challenged myself to make a double page, as I don't often make them, I didn't have to add much at all to get two pages from the kit and there is still bits left!

I have made centers for the flowers (coffee stained) with the organza then finished them with a brad center and made my own roses with the little flowers from the kit.

An art doll

I meet Linda Baldock at a paper craft expo in Melbourne recently and I fell in love with her art dolls, I have wanted to have a go at these for a while, and I am glad I did! I brought this kit off her and it was the first thing I made once I got home (with far too many stamps!!)

I want to have another go at my own doll soon!

Christmas Cards for Ethan's Teachers

I had yesterday off, and it was the first day I have had off since opening the shop where I did not house work! We spent the day in Melbourne, Imogen and myself went to see Hairspray for her birthday present, she loves the movie (and is watching it now as I type!!)

It was her first production and she just adored it - although she said part where a bit loud.

But more on that later!

These two cards are shaker cards for Ethan's teachers. The little gnome santas have been coloured with copics. I seem to make a lot of these cards since Mandi's class!!

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas Day 9

I have finished tag 9 today, I have skipped tag 8 for now, I am breaking my rule about not buying anything new, as I really need the seasonal mask Tim has used. The ones I have just are not right for Tim's extreme masking!!

I love the warm colours of this tag, it suits our dry Aussie climate! The warm colours match the vintage theme and I LOVE the rosette, (I NEED the die to make them as the way Tim used them made is so much easier and quicker them by scratch!)

Day 7 of Tim's 12 tag's of Christmas was heaps of fun! I honestly didn't think I would be able to adapt it enough to make it work, but I LOVE it. I honestly don't know which one is my favorite, I think they all are.

For this tag I have used: a manila tag, distress inks in vintage photo, walnut stain, tea dye, frayed burlap, crushed olive, fired brick, peeled paint and forest moss, glimmermist in peppermint stick, red velvet, forest green and lily pad, craft concepts woodgrain folder, distress stickles rock candy, scratch tool, cricut machine, accent essentials cartridge, canvas, JAC paper, cardboard, grungeboard alphas, vintage button, urban grunge stamp, archival ink jet black, grungeboard flourish, white paint, muslin, fibers, K&Co Jewelery charm, burgundy stickles, kaiser paper scrap, dimension magic, angel charm and a safety pin.

The day 8 tag uses a Santa mask from Tim's seasonal mask set, all my masks don't work so I am going to break my rule and buy it!! So i'll have to skip it for now :(

Daily December Album so far...

I have made my album this year 8x8, which after I cut it I thought what a waste, but I am using alot of scraps as journal spots, pockets or tags as I go, plus I enjoy having the bigger space to work with.

This is my cover this year, I still need to add the year. I am binding my album with my Cinch machine, but not until I finish it, so while I work on it, it is just held together with a couple of rings.

Day 1 is a fold out page and shows Ethan with his wreath he made in art class, plus some ribbons and bling!

This fold out page is my favorite page yet, I love the pastel/vintage colours, the velvet ricrac and bling. I have used my I-rock for the bling and I LOVE it! It has made adding bling so much easier and they don't go in the wrong place!!

Day 2 has some cuttlebug embossing on the coredinations cardstock, a custom brad made on my i-top, lots of stickles and some ribbon.

Day 3 has a pocket to cover the yucky backwards writing from Day 2's embossing! It also holds my journalling about Immy and the kinder washing. I have also added some chipboard stars covered in both stickles and dimensional pearls, some rub ons and ribbon.

Day 4 is fairly basic the back of the star from the last page I have added stickles to and I have used two punches I picked up at a garage sale on the same day! Plus some rub ons's more stickles and bling and a decorative button.

Day 5 is a fold out page with a small acetate page also. This was our day out at Pa's work break up. The acetate page I have stamped and added sparkle and fluff to it, it worked but next time i'll heat from a little further away, as it did warp a little, but it didn't melt!!

I have also added some rub ons a little chipboard Santa I had cut from a bigger word (where I didn't want him!) which I have added sparkle and soft to his hat tip and beard then coloured the rest with gel pens.

Another birthday card!!

Ethan has another birthday party tonight, they are going ten pin bowling and I think we might go as a family afterwards. His card idea for this birthday party was a 'robot guy'

So this is the card we made. I have used lots of paper scraps including the decorative edge of a sassafrass lass paper. Chipboard, the word was painted with twinkling H2O's and then the balloons coated with stickles and the robot was coloured with glitter and metallic gel pens.

I have finally caught up! Yeah!! Just don't ask about my poor Daily December album, it's still on day 2!

I really enjoyed working on the day 6 tag, although it's bad because that means we are half way through the 12 tags :(

Tim shared lots of techniques which are really cool and included two videos which are well worth watching. I have learnt that a folder like the lace tree doesn't work all that well and it would have worked better with a solid image like the tall pine folder.

This is my version of Tim's Tag #5 I enjoyed making this tag, and it is one of my favorites I have made (so far!!)

Our Busy Weekend

Ethan with his mecano set, he has not stopped building things with this set yet!

On Sunday we had Pa's work picnic at the Summit in Trafalgar East, it's a great place where you can canoe, swim, water slide, rock climb, have a go on the flying fox, rope bridge and more. After two years of watching Ethan on the flying fox, Imogen decided this year she would too. So after getting all harnessed and slowly walking up the hill, we were told she was too light and would stop over the lake which would scare her, but she could go on it with her brother. So back down the hill we go, harness Ethan, then back up the hill. I thought she would chicken out, but nope, she did it! Then again later in the day, she would have gone on it more if we had more time too.

So maybe next year she can go by herself.

Getting ready to go, I thought Ethan was going to strangle her, he was gripping her so tight! When they set off the instructor called out on his radio "We got a couple of weenies coming down" I love it!!

I don't think Immy saw anything of the actual flying fox trip, she spend the ride with her head tucked into Ethan! But she was brave enough to do it again, which shocked me and the instructor!

Imogen with her present from Santa (who arrived on the flying fox!!), she got a scrapbook kit. She loves it because now she has her own stuff!!

Friday was insane and I never got a chance to do Tim's day 3 day.

I love how Tim did his tag, but i'm not too sure I love mine. I didn't want white spatter around the edges to look like snow, as we don't have a white Christmas, but I don't know if I like the effect of the spattered glitter.

Today's tag featured a lot of things I don't have, but some cut and dry foam is now on top of my list! I have still used a blue background, but I have darkened it, and it is right about the colour outside my window now!!

Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas Day 1

Wow it doesn't feel like a year has passed since I did these tags last year!

As most of you know Tim Holtz is more than just my ultimate Scrapbook Idol, and each year he makes 12 tags on the first 12 days of December.

His first tag was very winter themed, and while I followed the winter colours last year I really haven't done much with the tags as they are wrong for my pages. So this year my challenge to myself is not only to use what I have, but to also try and make them more Summer Christmas!

Another Birthday Card!

I am not a card maker - HONEST! Even though it's all I seem to do now!

I am a scrapbooker, who makes cards using my scraps, but the kid's have had so many birthday parties lately that all I seem to do is make cards for their friends.

This is what Imogen looked like after her friends party on Saturday. Even her hair was multi coloured.

Oh by the way she is a BIRD not a butterfly. (Trust Imogen she has to be different!)

Now I have a boys card to make for a party Ethan is going to next week!

Melbourne Show

Ok I really need to spend some time scrapbooking, but we have been so busy personally and with the shop, so you will have to settle for family updates!

Over the school holidays we spent a day at the Melbourne Show.

Ethan loved getting to pull the steam engine's whistle!

He also loved the haunted house. He probably would have loved to go in if one of us had taken him. Immy - we could not bribe her to even go near the people for photos!!

Imogen loved the dolls

And after a small hissy fit she also enjoyed the baby animals, after she actually stopped to touch one. We could not get her away from the chickens!

Poor chickens, imagine having to spend ten days with kids harassing you!

Birthday Cards!!

This first card I made for my Son Ethan, he was 7 on Monday. Not that he looks 7, he is soo short! I don't know where he gets that from!!! Anyone who knows Ethan, knows that he is obsessed with ghosts. Spiders too, pretty much anything slightly creepy!

Fiona had her birthday late last month, I pinched her stamps to make her this card, I kept it simple as I wanted the rats to be the main focus of the card.

I think these see no evil rats suit us!

I have used Imaginisce Splash Dance papers(Polka Dot Bikini and Bubble Bath, Greeting Farm Rock the Farm Ian, Kaiser Mini Alphas, Green Tara flower and mesh, Sandie's Handmade Daisy, ribbon and ric rac, fish metal charm.

The Greeting Farm Image, ribbon, ric rac, mesh, flowers and the metal charm where coloured with Copic Ciao markers to match the Imaginisce Splash Dance papers.

This is the first full image I have coloured.

Mini Books Galore

This is an album I made a while ago for a class at the shop. I've started with a Scrap FX album, Fancy Pants Baby papers, and some extras to create this album.
I love to add extra, smaller pages to chipboard books, this means you can add as many pages as you like to customise your mini books. For this small page, I have used a Heidi Grace frame tag as my page for Imogen's ultrasound image.
The back is covered in the fancy pants paper and a photo (I hated pregnancy photos -but then I hate photos of me all the time!!)
The next page is mainly a journal page, straight from the patterned paper and a few rubon's!

Another smaller page has been added here, this time with the same cardstock I used to cover the chipboard. Can you see Imogen giving us the finger from day 1?

This is a really simple book to make for a gift for a new Mum. Everyone gives clothing, which babies grow out of so fast. So why not make a personal gift?!

More rubons and felt hearts ran through the cuttlebug. Stiff felt will hold the embossed pattern well.

The back page is simply a Fancy Pants Acrylic frame and a rubon and felt flowers made by my friend Samantha.

This mini book was a recent class at the shop, people loved, it's so much fun getting messy!

It's a mixed media album, created on water colour paper. I have used paints, distress inks, distress crackle paints,distress embossing powders, twinkling h2o's, glimmermist, dimensional pearls, lots of different laces and ribbons, stamping, assorted flowers and papers, which are all altered in some way!

I love painting without paintbrushes! For this I have used bubble wrap, tulle, muslin and my hands, I love the textures you get!

Once you have used the tulle to paint with it can be used as an embellishment on the page. Here I have added it under my photo.

I printed lots of quotes on the internet and coloured them with distress ink.

I LOVE dimensional pearls, here I have painted them onto the page with my fingers and on the little heart. The more you add the more dimension/pattern you can get.

I have coloured the cherry blossom with different twinkling h2o's and the small flower was stamped with distress ink, this stops them from looking too flat and lifeless on your work.

The large flower on this was swiped over with ink before painting it with glimmermist, the centre was made using my i-top tool. I love this tool, you can create custom brads to suit anything you are working on.

Thick coats of distress crackle paint.

A day in Melbourne

We spent a lovely sunny Sunday in Melbourne a few weekends ago, we had no set plans just took a early train into the city and walked/trammed all day.
The first place we headed was Fitzroy gardens to see the dolphin fountain. Immy's new thing when trying to take her photo is to stick her tongue out, how lovely!!
Ethan loved the huge park, we made him read the maps and stop and read signs we saw along the way. He didn't take the hat off all day, even in the Aquarium! Too Cool!!
Then a quick stop and play at the dragon park, you climb up his head and slide down his tail, the kids love him, even if they did have slightly wet bums afterwards!
How cool is this!!

They have added a giraffe swing since we were last there, but he looks funny without a head!?

Then we stopped for a look at the Tudor Village. It was funny listening to the kids about the different little 'men' who lived in the houses!

The fairy tree is something I have loved since I was Ethan's age and first went to see it, it's just magical to kids. But it has seen better days!

Then we went to see Captain Cook's Cottage, the kids and I have been there before, but James had not. It was good because Ethan has just done some 'old times' stuff at school, so it helped him to get a better picture of what the teacher was saying.

Then we stopped at the conservatory, pure heaven for little girls! Imogen was amazed by the pretty flowers.

After camera shopping and lunch we headed to the aquarium. The kids loved the new penguin area, they had fun watching them dive and waddle/slide down the ice covered ramp.

Ethan could have watched them swim all day.

The kids were amazed by the size of the sharks.

We got to sit and watch feeding time. The kids thought the rays were gross eaters.

We then walked down South Bank, watched an amazing busker, then had ice cream at Trampoline. I actually don't mind this photo of me, I usually hate them, but did you see my new hot pink Pentax!!!

Then I went to the Tim Burton expo at Federation Square, I LOVE him, his mind must be amazing and twisted. But you were not allowed to take photos in the expo, which I hate. Because there was some amazing pieces.

Fat Wombat Scrappin??

One of the ladies who come into the shop and crop on a Wednesday is a wildlife rescue lady, the wombats are like babies and need to be feed often, so they come with her.

Everyone loves them, and we fight for cuddles, especially the kids.

These photos were taken on a day Ethan had off sick from school - the same day Gabi took the wombats to his school!! That's why we had the two bigger wombats in as well.

Imogen's Wildlife Encounter

Imogen's kinder had a "Wildlife Encounter" a few weeks ago. Imogen loved it she touched everything and did not stop yapping about it for the rest of the day!

They got to see alot of animals, even some big spiders, but they could not touch them.

The man was good, he was putting the snakes on the kids without giving them the option! But it was so fast, which didn't leave much time for photos!

Not Much to Share!!

Time is just not my friend at the moment!! The shop has been busy and classes filling up. I have just not been having any scrap time to myself!

I finally finished this layout off, it was made from a kit we received from Core'Dinations at Creative Block in April (yeah it's been that long!!) It was designed to show how Core colours match together despite coming from separate ranges (Black Magic, Vintage, White Wash and Gemstones used here) it also uses scraps from the Core Amour Onyx. I added a few extras to the basic design and I LOVE my page.
This next layout is from the Colour Room Palette #6 and sketch. I wish I had time to work on these skecthes each week.

School Holidays...

It's school holidays and I am getting nothing I mean NOTHING done! I take the kids to work with me and that stops me from doing most things as it's always "I'm hungry" "He pushed me" "Mum Immy..." Ahhhhhh!!

Plus we have had children booked into our school holiday program every day, which is great, but I've had to clean my work area up to fit them, so I don't see any scrapping getting done over the next week!!

Yesterday we had a texture canvas day and the kids had a blast, I left my kids with the in laws for the day as the class is good messy fun, and I really didn't need two little helpers. The six canvases all looked so different and very beautiful.

So all I really have to share is photos from a very hectic morning last Thursday...

Ethan had a barn dance at school and they could dress up Western style, pretty easy we have cowboy dress ups. I didn't get very good photos at the actual dance the school has a small gym and all the kids from grades prep - 3, where all dancing at the same time, add in all the parents around them and it was squashy and very hot (despite being freezing outside!)

Immy also had a dress up day, Oriental! (Like two dress up days on the one day aren't bad enough, but Oriental!!) Luckily Mum, who is the dress up Queen, had this dress (which is a size 10!! And Immy fits a size 3!!!) stashed away, so she fixed it and Immy loved it. They had the kinder set up so well, they had low, long tables with black and red bowls, chopsticks and they had an Asian banquet for lunch.

Is this a taste of her future?

Could she be a dental nurse?

I arrived home tonight, to "You're next, please come through" "sit down please, open your mouth"

I was in hysterics!!

They had a dental nurse come to kinder today. It was funny because when I dropped her off, we saw the nurse going in and Immy did a bit of a tanty, thinking she was going to get a needle! But she loved it, she got a little bag with some tooth paste, a tooth brush, the pink gloves (that are awesome because they are pink! So Immy!!), a fake mirror, a magnet and some teeth tattoos!!

This layout was made using 'the color room' palette 4. Unfortunately I never took a very good photo and I am feeling too lazy to take another!! I love this layout, I love Heidi Swapp's Invisibles line, I wish I could get more!! I love all the flowers and the embossing on the paper plus the Maya Road letters.

The colour room palette 4. Brown, cream, burnt orange and copper are hard colours for me, I had to keep this one simple, but I really like it, it's natural which suits the photo.

This layout is for palette 5. I like the colours and and loving using up lots of bits out of my stash, that may not have been used otherwise!

Maybe one day I will actually get the weekly palette done and enter it!!

A few pages

I have been trying to get around to working on these forever! But the shop is very busy and I am not getting anything done. Yesterday I had nothing to do, I had finished the school holiday program lists and samples, I had finished the July Class list and samples, so I thought I would scrap for myself.

There is a newish group called 'the color room' where they give you a colour palette to work with and an optional sketch to follow. I did palette 1 and 2 yesterday, and I am trying to follow their sketches as well, they are up to palette 9 and there is some amazing work happening.

The above layout was palette 1, I like how it turned out.

This layout was done using palette 2, I love this photo of Ethan, it works so well done in black and white with this colour palette.

Lastly this was layout I did for last months Kraft it up challenge, but it never made it up!! I just love the Hey Birdie range from Kaiser, head over to the Fat Cat Scrappin' blog to see some sneak peeks at Sam's next card class using this range!

A Canvas I have created for a class at the shop, it uses Glimmer Mist, Texture paste, paper, ribbon, felt, grungeboard and more.

Ok I am obsessed with Glimmer Mist, but really it's hard not to!!

This was may layout for the May monthly challenge at Fat Cat. It uses lots of yummy Basic Grey Nook and Pantry papers.

This is a class sample for the shop, using core'dinations vintage cardstock.

A sympathy card

Two cards in two days! Eekk I think I am becoming a card maker!

I had to make a sympathy card today for a customer/friend who lost a loved one.

I kept it really simple, while and cream colours. Made with metallic paper the bottom layer was embossed with one of the A2 Cuttlebug folders, the block section is raised and stamped with a sentiment and Basic Grey flourish in cream pearl embossing powder. I have also added some cream grosgrain, prima flowers, a Heidi Grace pin and a brad, which I embossed with the same powder as the flourish (this works well, but be very careful of your fingers the little brad gets awful hot quick!!)

Hopefully I will get some pages done soon!!

Me and the Little Rascals Give Away

I have to say I am in total love with this range, it was marketed as a wedding range, but it's black and white, think of all the possibilities!

Sandie's Challenge Card

Sandie has a challenge on her blog, and there is still a few more days to enter. You have to create three handmade flowers using a recycled product, give them a handmade centre, then make a card using them.

The colours are a bit off, the card is so much more vibrant in real life. The flowers are make using paper towels, that I use when Glimmer Misting. I go through lots and it is good to have a use for the towels now!

Sandie also asks for a tutorial on how to make the flowers, and like Vickie I think eww! But I will try! There is a video on the Glimmer Mist Blog, but I could not get it to play!

Step one: After you towels are dry, flatten them out, and cut into evenish strips, how deep you make them will alter the size of your flowers. You can use as few or as many strips as you like, mine all used 3.
*If you are in the Gippsland area, check out the Fat Cat Scrappin' blog for information on our Glimmer Mist Workshop. After the workshop, you will have plenty of paper towels to make flowers with (Sorry I just had to plug the shop!!!)
Step two: Place double sided tape along one side of your strip, it wants to be on the non Glimmer Misted side (or the least!)

Step three: Place a wired steam, (or steal some wire from hubby's shed!) on the edge of the strip, turn it so it sticks. Then begin to gather, turn and stick, as you roll the strips onto the wire.

Step four: Attach another strip and just keep going, you can make the roses as open or closed as you like, by the amount of gathering you use.

I cut off the steams as close as possible and you have gorgeous paper flowers.

I have added some stickles to the centre of my flowers, I hope this will qualify for Sndie's add a handmade centre (it would be pointless giving these a centre, other than a bit of extra sparkle, as you would not see it!!)

Too Long Between Posts

The above card is the card I made for Mum for Mother's Day. I used all scraps (these ones where from my Fancy Pants Class in Queensland, all I added was some ribbon, a button, a rub on and some glimmermist!

This was the card I made for my Nan for Mother's Day. Mum, Nan, Imogen and myself had a lovely afternoon tea at a bed and breakfast in the hills behind Trafalgar. It was lovely and hopefully I will share some photos soon! Nan's card was made with scraps again, some old rub ons and Glimmermist. (Ok so the class with Wendy might have furthered my Glimmermist obsession!)
This little wall hanging, was the only thing I did for myself at our mad National Scrapbook Day! In my defence I was doing demos, make and takes and serving as well! It is a combination of Tattered Angels and Tim Holtz products, I was in pure heaven creating this!!!

A close up pf the top portion, the clock charm has been coated in the new Glimmer Glaze, I love this effect, it has made a new charm look a little older.

Imogen outside the WGAC after seeing the Gruffalo, she really liked the play, I didn't know how she would like it, seeing as how it had to be changed and added to for it to become a stage show. But she loved it, but was very unsure of the 'gruffao' when he ran into the audience - right past her!

It's funny because it looks like she is reading the book, but it's really only that she knows the book off by heart. She reads it nearly every day and just loves everything about it.

It's football season here, and we are really not a huge football family, we don't even watch it, but Pa has been buying Ethan football cards and they came with these Essendon tattoos. Imogen knows the Essendon theme song off by heart. I need to try and catch her on the movie camera one day, she sings the right words, but some like premiership come out so wrong!

Ethan had a play date at his friend Harry's house last weekend, he made this picture at Harry's house.

Imogen the diva reading the Coles free beauty magazine on top of our class tables at work, she was so impressed with this 'make up book This is so Imogen!

Ethan had his lapathon at school not that long ago, he wanted to dress up as Buzz Lightyear, I couldn't go because of work, but Pa went and took some photos for me, Ethan did 7 laps of the school oval.

Dad said he was so funny, he would speed up as he got near where Pa was standing, then slow back down when he got away from Pa. This is so typical Ethan, he is not the sportiest kid ever!!

Mystified class in Melbourne with Heidi and Wendy was amazing I just loved it! I learnt so much and have heaps of knowledge to pass on to customers at the shop. It was a great chance to spend time with Mum and Sam too.

The lovely Arlington, this was the same venue as Create 08. It is lovely, and Wattle Park (where the Chalet is) is lovely and I would love to get the chance to walk around and see the gardens one day.
