Finally some Mojo!

Well after a long leave of absence my mojo has returned, I just hope I can hold onto it for a little longer this time!

I taken a retailer class in Melbourne with Kim and Stacey (the genius mind behind Spellbinders) it was a full on day and we made 7 cards and a layout in only a few hours - CRAZY.  I must finish them and show them on here, there where some great ideas.

I think my mojo  return has something to do with officially being on a 'design team' something I loved doing when I had the shop and probably the only thing I miss about it.  It's mainly teaching and helping people scrapbook that I love and after teaching a Glimmer Mist class over at Treasures to Scrap for Tina I realised just how much I miss it and the interaction it gives me.
The class was awesome and about 10 lovely ladies learnt alot and found they could use Glimmer Mist.
Plus Tina has given me a whole pile of papers from Kaiser that are 'unreleased'!!!  And can I tell you I love them and will be making some great things, but you will have to wait until January to see some of it!
I just LOVE Kaiser's 'Butterfly Kisses' collection, when I saw it at the retailer day Tina took me to earlier this year, I knew I would love it!  I makes the most beautiful and easy layouts, that work with so many photos and colour combos!
This page was done using 'scraps' from the other single page and double below.  I still LOVE the 'collectables' Kaiser is bringing out with the collections.  For the price of them they are awesome value and a great way to add extra 'pop' to your pages without spending hours 'fussy cutting' images from paper.
The packets are around the $7.00 mark and include around 50 or more die cut images, which is great value they work out under 15 cents each!!!
This double page was the first one I made using this collection.  It worked in perfectly with these photos of Imogen's first lost tooth.
I used a LOT of the collectables on this page, but I think I still have about 1/2 a packet left after the three layouts - see the value!
I have also used Kaiser Paper Blossoms and one of Charms Creations Page Runners.
This layout was SO QUICK and easy (which is good for me as these photos are from Christmas 2010, which is still largely un-scrapped!)
This is the Kaiser Mint Twist collection, which is another I fell in love with at the Retailer Day.  It has been a while since I found a 'cute' Christmas collection, the past few years has seen a lot of Vintage - and don't get me wrong I love the Vintage look, but find it does not look so great with my kids, they just seem to young for it in my opinion.
Mint Twist is different it is cute and fun and the 'collectables' are over the top cute!
I have also used one of Kaiser's new wooden flourishes and painted it with a mix of Glimmer Glam and Dimensional Pearls for some texture.  I have also used some Kaiser Ribbon Roses with a Sparklet on the inside.  These roses are so pretty and if you are worried about 'Fat Scrapbooks' they flatten down nicely once in your album.

These are all avaliable over at Tina's Treasures to Scrap in Korumburra and these layouts and more of mine will be on display soon so go over and see Tina or me if you are lucky (LOL)!!!

I hope you like them!

Tim's Tags of 2012 - September

When I first saw this tag I was so excited to have a go at it, I just loved it, almost as much as last months tag.
I had most items I needed, and set about getting the few extras I needed.  We went away on a small retreat with a group of scrappy friends in early September, and I was hoping to get this tag done while e where away, except the store sent me the wrong alcohol ink colours by mistake, so I had to wait for the correct ones to get sent out.  So this tag is getting uploaded at the last minute AGAIN!!
But it has kick started my creativity, along with a HUGE lot of Kaiser ranges (not even released yet!!) Tina at Treasures to Scrap gave me to make some things with!!  Lucky me!  So the mojo is flowing, so I am not sticking around here!!
So the tag above is Tim Holtz' original master piece (You can see his post including step by step instructions on how to create this tag here)!  The tag below is mine, I made a few changes, but I love it!  I can't wait for next months tag to be put up in a few days time, I am hoping it will be Halloween themed, I must be one of the only Aussies to get excited about Halloween!!
I hope you like it!!

Tim's Tags of 2012 - August

Wow when I first saw Tim's August Tag, I fell in love with it, and I knew I had to buy all the elements so I could create it just like Tim!
Below is Tim's version of the August Tag.
I loved the Tattered Pinecone Die the first time Tim used it to make Roses on his Tag, and once I saw these ones, I just had to get the die and that was NOT fun!!  No one seemed to have it or where able to get it (in time for the end of month dead line!)
So here is my version, the Distress inks never came out as dark as Tim's, I think my ink pads all need re-inking!!
Check out all the dimension in this tag, and the glitter from the Perfect Pearls Mist!!
I love it and I hope you do too!!!

Studio L3's - Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #17 - Creative Core'dinations

So I followed the directions in Tim Holtz' Compendium of Curiosities Vol2 on page 61 to create my beautiful embossed background piece, and if you want to try this you'll need to buy Tim's book!  I have used two colours of Tim's Kraft Core Nostalgic Cardstock No.2 and No.7. Along with my Book Covers Texture Fade and Heart Wings Die.

I used some papers from Prima's Song Bird Collection (Collage and Joltz) I just found this paper range and I love it, it's got soft colours and cute images.
I also used a paper covered wooden lady/fairy I found while at a scrapbook shop yesterday, which I used Distress Stickles on her wings, but they are getting older and are really thick (anyone know how to fix this!).
I stamped Tim's Flights of Fancy Clear stamp onto a scrap of the paper, added a pearl flourish, died some crinkle ribbon with Pine Needles distress stain to match the fairies green wing section, then sprayed it with Blue Raspberry Perfect Pearl Mist to tone down the green a little.
Then I finished it with a vintage button and a beaded pin.

This challenge has been sponsored by Simon Say's Stamp who have put up a $25 gift certificate for one lucky random winner!  They have the best shop when it comes to Tim Holtz products and they even ship to Australia with reasonable shipping rates and times!
 I hope you like it!

A 'Just Because' layout!

Wow - two posts in 1 day!!
That is a record for me at the moment, I am just not finding the e time (or inspiration!!) to scrapbook at the moment.  I think I feel a little bit lost without the shop now that I am back into the work force.  But I do love my new job!
I am hoping that the Retreat Weekend with the girls will bring me back on track with my layouts and find the will to do challenges again!
I just have gotten so peeved with being awarded a prize and them never turning up - I have 2 prizes outstanding from challenges this year, I from January!!

Anyway!!!  Back on track, I was lucky enough to attend Kaiser's Retailer Day with Tina from Treasures to Scrap last month, and as soon as I saw this collection - Sears & Sons - I fell in love with it!!
We used the papers in a class with Melissa Kennedy on the day (which I have not finished!) and I got these papers off Tina, and this is the first of hopefully many layouts to come!

I have used a few of the Sears & Sons papers, the Sears & Sons sticker sheet, Distress Inks, D-Lish Scraps items from one of their 'Just add Paper Kits', Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearl Mist, Grungeboard Alphas, Tim Holtz Sproket Gears and my  Red Pepper Dabber.
A few close ups of the little details.
Below is the sketch I based my layout on, it is Sketch #25 from Heather's Scrappy Sketches site.  Heather creates a new sketch each week and they are always fun to play with!
 I hope you like it!

Studio L3's Compendium of Curiosities Vol 2 Challenge #16

I have made this card for Linda's Studio L3 - Compendium of Curiosities Vol 2 - Challenge #16, which was the Perfect Pearls Mists technique.
This technique can be found on page 54 of Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities Vol 2 Book.
I have used 3 colours of Perfect Pearl Mists - Heirloom Gold, Pink Gumball and Blue Raspberry.  I have used the Graphic 45 'A Ladie's Diary papers as my main image and fussy cut flowers.  The butterfly has been cut from another Graphic 45 paper from the Olde Curiosity Shop collection.  I have added some resin flowers, and some of Tim's embellishments - a Memo Pin, Word Band and a Long Fastener.  I have 'popped' the wording on the word band with Juniper Paint Dabber.
I have also added the Heirloom Gold Mist to the fussy cut butterfly, and the Pink Gumball Mist to my crinkle ribbon.
Just a few close ups of the details.
 I hope you like it!

Compendium of Curiosities 2 - Challenge 13

Now that I finally got my hand on Tim's newest book Compendium of Curiosities 2 (thanks to Tina at Treasures to Scrap for ordering it specially for me!) I can join in Linda's Studio L3 Weekly Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenges!
This was Challenge 13 - Spritz and Flick Technique, which can be found on page 42 of the Compendium of Curiosities 2.
The rules are simple, follow the technique and add your own flair!
And you can also win a $25 voucher from Simon Says Stamp in the US, which all Tim fans could use, especially with the new CHA releases just around the corner!!!

I have also used an image cut from the Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland paper, which I have covered in Utee, then cracked and inked with Distress Ink.
I have die cut some gadget gears, inked them, then coated it with Utee then flicked most of it off it off to create a rough surface.
Then Inked up some Crinkle ribbon and added the clock.
I hope you like it.

Tim's Tags 2012 - July

Yeah I am actually getting this tag uploaded before the month finishes.
I am hopefully going to get a few more things done too, I am still trying to find the work/homework/scrapbooking balance!

Below is Tim's version of the the July tag, and when I first saw it I thought what the hell am I going to do!
The tag centers around 4th of July and Americana, which is not something I need to make a tag on!
So I spent a few day thinking and decided that as Tim has not done a January tag, and January is Winter to Americans, his tag might be Winter themed, which would suit our July!
So I switched out the months and this will become my 'honorary January' tag!
January 26th is Australia Day, our 4th of July I guess.  So I dug out my Teresa Collins Stamp Maker (which has not seen as much use as it needs too!), I had ran out of the negative film you print on, so I used Acetate, but it gave the printed image a furry and not very detailed image.  But it was ok!
I found a Kangaroo image with the Southern Cross and made the stamp below!
I changed the colours from Red and Blue to Gold and Green, our National Colours.  I swapped the 4 mini numeral for 26.  I love the techniques in this tag, from the canned air splatters and the multi coloured crinkle ribbon!
Thanks for another great month of techniques Tim!

June - WOW where did it go? But it was the month of 'Tim'!

Ok, so life just got too hectic for me last month, and all forms of scapbooking sort of halted, I never even got my Tim's Tag done by the end of the month!
BUT on the plus side I traveled to Brisbane to meet Tim Holtz and watch him demo at the Brisbane Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo.
And watch Tim I did!  As soon as I arrived at the expo I made a beeline for him!!
I had printed a map of the layout before the show, obsessive I know, but this was my big chance to meet him!
I was so glad I got there early, because by mid morning, you could not get near him!!
These photos are of Tim demoing his Distress Markers, he is colouring his Papillon  Stamp.
This later became a tag he gave to me, signed and made by the Master himself!!
I had ordered his Distress Marker's and water brushes and knew they where coming to my local scrap shop, Treasures to Scrap so I was happy to watch him!
I was also glad to see him colour his crinkle ribbon, I have gotten my ribbon to look more like his now.
Tim making another tag, he was so lovely and patient to all the women stopping and asking him questions, getting him to sign things, but he always smiled and was charming!
Tim 'rumaging' in his Trinket Case (this made me want one!)
Look at that smile - Swoon!
Someone asked him if he named the Distress Ink colours and he replied something like I created them, I name them, that's why they have odd names.
Finally a photo with Tim!
Get a look at the goofy-Cheesy grin on my face, I was almost crying with excitment!
I also got some photos of me with Mario, but they are on Mum's Camera.

Then it was a waiting game for my class with Tim in Melbourne at the end of the month!
Our kit's where so cute, and parts where pre-done so we would finish on time!
I really struggled to get photos of Tim teaching, the projector screen was throwing my camera settings!  Tim is a wonderful and humorous teachers, he could not get over how nice Aussie scrappers are, apparently Americans are pushy and fight over tools and shared objects!
About half way through the class, and my first chance to play with Distress Markers, I was really excited to be picking mine up from Tina at Treasures to Scrap!
Tim shared loads of tips through the class.
Our Artful Flight wall hanging is almost finished!!
I can not get over how good Ranger's Multi Medium adhesive is for sticking metal!  This is on my list of 'need to get's!'
The class over, we had time to get Tim to sign things, including the unavailable to buy Idea-ology tote bags Tim gave us in the class!  I had brought my books he has written, so I was in heaven!
Another stupid goofy grin from me!
 Tim, myself and Mario.
Mario helped me out recently when I lost the instructions for a project I had brought off Tim, and emailed me new instructions.
These following photos are of some samples Tim had brought over with him for us to see.
This was made on a cruise he taught on!  I think that would be awesome cruising AND classes with Tim.
All these elements, including the boat where attached with Multi-Medium, I told you it was good stuff!
 Some cards Tim has made.
 Cards and a Pocket Watch.
 More bits...
How awesome is this mirror - look at all the fragments Tim has used!
And finally this canvas page made by grunge board.  It was full of amazing patchwork and textures.

In all this excitement was Tim's June tag with all it's amazing techniques, getting forgotten (not really!) on my desk.
Below is Tim's amazing tag.
Below is my tag.  It has turned out similar to Tim's.
Tim publishes all the tips on his blog to re-create this tag yourself!
I am really happy with my tag this month!
I am slowing down I know!!
This has also prompted me to clean out my scrap room.
Most of my room is retro/Antique my desk is an old green top lockable desk, found on a roadside collection I LOVE it!  My sewing basket belonged to one of my second cousins and I have a mismatched collection of tins and draws holding must haves.
PLUS my new Trinket case, Distress Markers and Tissue Tape.
Thanks Tina/Treasures to Scrap for getting these in for me!

So here is hoping July goes back to normal and I get some layouts done!
